Per line 11 of IT-210, NY state requires that you attach a copy of your federal Schedule E, Form 1040. (Similarly other lines require copies of other federal forms.) Those forms are nowhere to be found under the 'New York Forms' section.
I don't want to have to "print" the return to see if TT would pull those in at a later stage as the product then becomes non-returnable. I expect to see everything relevant when I switch to the Forms view. How can I validate whether TT is going to attach all necessary forms correctly and still have the option to return TT if it does not?

You are not going to see federal forms under the "New York Forms" section, because they are not New York Forms. If you e-file your your returns, the program will include all required filing information in the the applicable e-file that is transmitted. If you indicate you want to want to print and mail your New York state return, the program will print out all federal forms that are required to be mailed along with your state return. But you still won't see them listed under the New York Forms section.

Ok, that does make me feel a bit better. And true, it's not a New York form. But as it's required as part of the submission, and I am responsible for what is filed, ideally I would expect to be able to see what is going to be submitted before I hit 'file'. Much like when a preparer does my taxes I sign off on a draft of the exact documents that will be submitted. I guess I will have to trust the program to append what's needed (and conversely remove some of the excess forms it does show that are not relevant).
