State Tax Error Line 6a

Good evening.  My Federal Taxes checked out so now I'm doing the analysis of my state income taxes and it keeps saying there is 1 error.  It shows me the 1040 form and displays "Schedule CA: Ln 6-Fed SS benefits amt must be entered."  We don't get Federal Social Security benefits and don't have an SSA-1099, so there's no amount to enter.  Earlier in the walk-through when it asked if we get Social Security income, we marked "no."  The box in error on the 1040 is under column A (taxable amounts from your federal tax return) next to line item 6a and is highlighted in red.  It will not let me enter either letters or numbers into the box.  I have repeatedly re-entered our W2 information and redone the "income" section of the federal return.  Is there something I'm doing incorrectly?  Thank you.

State Tax Error Line 6a

No.  You are not doing anything incorrectly.  Ssocial Security is not taxed by California. The taxable portion of your Social Security benefits is automatically adjusted when the information transfers over from the federal return to the state. On your CA return, this will show as a subtraction  to income on Schedule CA. Your itemized deductions are also automatically adjusted for the allowable California deductions.
