Hello all,
I am in a total panic. Both my Federal and State refunds were returned by my bank due to not having the correct name, which was odd since it did work last year. Will I be able to get back my refunds? Will they issue a paper check instead? Thank you to anyone who can shed some light.
edit: My state is California

Banking information for direct deposit is wrong
If you entered incorrect banking information for your refund, you can change it if your return is rejected. If it is accepted, however, it is too late to change it. The bank will reject the refund and send it back to the IRS. Then the IRS will issue a paper check and mail it to the address you put on your tax return. Expect a delay of at least a couple of weeks to receive your refund.
Here is what the IRS says about entering incorrect banking information

Will the State also send a paper check if the refund was returned to them?
why are your names different from what is used on the returns? you face the same problem every year. but yes you will get paper checks. how long? maybe 6-8 weeks fed, can't answer for CA.
