Hello,
I live in Tennessee but am employed remotely by a company based in Colorado. During the entire year of 2023, I never physically worked in or even visited Colorado.
Am I required to pay income tax to Colorado under these circumstances?
Thank you!

No, you do not. Out of State employers
Hi There,
Is this answer still true for the 2024 tax year?
Thanks in advance 🙂

Thank you, Dawn!
Quick clarifying question (might be a silly one).
Even if I am not required to pay state income tax, do I still need to file a state return for Colorado for $0? Not sure if this is even possible, but wanted to check just in case.
Thanks!
"...do I still need to file a state return for Colorado for $0?"
No, not unless CO income tax was mistakenly withheld from your pay. If that happened, you'd have to file a non-resident CO return, showing the withholding but declaring zero CO income, in order to obtain a complete refund.
Thank you, Tom!

The answer is still true! No need to file a tax return for Colorado for 2024 as long as you didn't physically perform any work in the state.
Thank you very much!
