My IN state tax return is being rejected for the following reason - RHS-032: Filer.ForeignAddress.ProvinceOrStatNm is not a valid ISO standard code for the indicated country. Per the state of IN, for specific countries, the foreign address Region MUST match the State/Province Code for the corresponding State/Province Name. You can find these State/Province Codes on Indiana's website: https://www.in.gov/dor/4432.htm. Please update the Region input field located in the Client Information screen and re-transmit the return.
So, when I go to the state's website and look at this document. It states the following- IRS Country Code is FR, State/Province Code is 67, State/Province Name is Bas Rhin. Now, I go back to TurboTax and make the state 67, it is the correct State/Province code but now TurboTax won't let me past this screen:
Check This Entry: The IRS and state taxing authorities do not allow certain characters in this field. The field highlighted below contains one or more of the following illegal characters: "67". For electronic filing please remove these characters.
If I remove them, the e-file gets rejected!!! This is a vicious circle.
