Please clarify -- are you referring to an entry for a state return?  If so, what state?

Should a certificate of rent paid be listed as one of my returns?

Minnesota, the apartment complex I've been staying at gave me a Certificate of Rent Paid and I have never received one of these before. After putting in the information it said I would receive a refund from the CRP.

Yes, you can qualify for a Renter’s Property Tax Refund when you receive a Certificate of Rent Paid (CRP) when:

  • You are a Minnesota resident or spent more than 183 days in the state
  • You cannot be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s tax return
  • Your household income for 2020 was less than $62,960
