Sales tax vs income tax

It's telling me that my state and local tax deduction is more than the sales tax but it won't let me choose that. Why?

If you want the system to use the state sales tax deduction over the state income tax deduction, then you will need to go back under the state sales tax section, go through the sale tax deduction section again  and select that option (to have sales tax deducted instead of state income taxes) at the end of that section.
