received NPA from CA Franchise Tax Board for 2020

So the CA FTB just sent me a noticed that I own them $852 (plus interest) for back taxes for 2020. I used Turbotax to file my 2020 return.  I contacted the FTB, and they said that per CA law, federal and state AGI are supposed to be the same? My federal AGI was $72,xxx and CA AGI $25,xxx.

I believe the issue is that CA think that I was a resident for the whole year, but I was a non-resident and worked there from Jan to Mar 2020. So the $25,xxx was for that timeline in CA only. The rest was in WA. Because of that, CA instead of taxing me on $25,xxx, audited and tax me for $72,xxx.

My question is do I have a good cause to contest the finding? And also use Turbotax Accurate Guarantee in the event that it was Turbotax's fault (assuming I didn't do something wrong)?

Thanks for the help

You are required to report your federal AGI on a nonresident California return to calculate the tax.  You then apply the California income ratio to determine the tax due.  If you reported CA AGI of $25XXX you underreported the income.  The $25XXX is California source income, not the CA AGI.
