Just go to your Federal W-2, delete everything. Then re enter it manually. As in, you type everything yourself. It'll ask if you want it uploaded etc but don't let it. Click enter manually and enter everything by keyboard yourself.
It's all I did and it accepted my returns for both CA and NY after I did this. There is nothing else you need to do for "state." The State return pulls/takes the w-2 you entered for federal.
I hope this helps.
This also happened to me. I noticed that when turbo tax imported my w2 from ADP that they mixed up my local income and local tax withheld. I changed it and it went through after 6 rejections .
You have to go up to the federal section, in there is where the W2 info is click on it and really look at it, line by line....but especially Box 18. It had the same amount as my federal tax (?) from Box 17 in it, so my mind didn't catch it. A real pain in the backside. Once I fixed it, it went through
Had the same rejection/mis-match issue on state return. Was told by customer service there is an issue this year with ADP imported W2s. The recommended fix is to remove the W2 imported and manually enter. The fix worked for me.
Yes! I just revisited the federal return section after attempting to fix the error twice within the state return section. I may manually enter everything next year because now I don't trust turbo tax to automatically pull all the values correctly.
I've been trying to go in and fix it but I can't figure out how to do it. It won't let me when I hit fix my return it doesn't take me to the box 18 I need to fix. I really don't know what to do.
You can make the change by going back to your W-2 entry under your federal return and editing there. Once you update the W-2 on the federal return it will transfer to the state return. To edit select Wage and Income>W-2>Edit next to W2
Thanks. But I submitted federal first and it has already gone through accepted and unfortunately taken because I still owed from a few years back, but it supposedly transferred to my state, so that's why this is all so confusing. I'm about ready to try a different place just to get the state done. Not sure sure if I can do that not sure why I can't since it's been rejected a few times anyway
Did you try the actions noted above (deleting the W-2s and re-entering them manually)?
You should be able to just file your state, but if you accidently file your federal again, that's OK, because the second federal filing will just be ignored.
