2. My school district has an Ohio state income tax. From what I can find, Turbo Tax uses W2
information to calculate and report Ohio state school taxes.

My school district has an income tax. From what I can find, Turbo Tax uses W2
information to calculate and report Ohio state school taxes.

A. 2. There are two different School District Income Taxes (SDIT) in Ohio, Traditional and Earned Income. Most Ohio SDs use the traditional, in which all your income is taxable. In TurboTax (TT), that info transfers automatically from your state return to the SD return. Even if you live in an earned income district, the data will transfer automatically.
You must file an SD 100 if all of the following are true:
● You lived in a taxing school district for any
portion of the tax year;
● You received income while living in the
district; AND
● Based on that income, you have a school
district income tax liability (SD 100, line 2).
TurboTax (TT) does not automatically prepare a School District return (form SD 100), you must initiate it.
At the screen, in the Ohio program, titled "A few things before we wrap up your state taxes"

Usually the School District Income Tax (SDIT) return is e-filed with the state return, but there are exceptions. Read the Ohio 'filing instructions" that TurboTax prepares, They will tell you if the SD 100 was e-filed or if you have to mail it.
Hal Al is correct, You do not require a W-2 if you don't work for an employer.
However, I did find this regarding the Ohio School District Tax.
Each school district that levies a tax does so based on one of the following two methods:
Traditional: The traditional tax base is the taxpayer’s Ohio income tax base (Ohio IT 1040, line 3 minus line 4), plus any business income deduction. Traditional filers must complete lines 19-23 on the SD 100.
Earned Income: The earned income tax base includes only employee compensation and net earnings from self-employment to the extent included in modified adjusted gross income. Earned income filers must complete lines 24-27 on the SD 100.

I verified I live in an earned income district. Because I only received Social Security payments and pension payments that my earned income would be $0.

That is correct. Earned income does not include amounts such as pensions and annuities, welfare benefits, unemployment compensation, worker's compensation benefits, or social security.
