Is it possible to efile the federal return and mail the state return?

Yes, I have done this previously.  You can just print the state tax forms and mail them in.

Yes - you can e-file your federal return and then subsequently mail in your state return in TurboTax.

State income tax returns can either be e-filed with your federal return, or e-filed or mailed after your federal return has already been accepted by the IRS, which normally takes a day or two.

When you get to the File section in the program, you can select e-file for your federal and print and mail for your state return. TurboTax will ensure that you have all the forms you need when you mail your state return.
