I just completed my son's 2019 federal taxes using a TurboTax CD we purchased.  He is eligible for free ND state tax efiling with TurboTax because of his low income but when I pull up that site, I would need to begin the federal all over again.  Is there any way to import what I've already done on the TurboTax or a way to indicate he's eligible for free efiling on the TurboTax I've already done the federal taxes on?

State e-files require that a federal return be filed at the same time or prior to e-filing the state return.  As a result, you will have to either e-file the state return through TurboTax Desktop or print and mail the state return.  If you were to try and file through the free file, you would have to also file the federal return.  You would not want to file a second federal return, and if you tried it would be rejected because a return with his social security number had already been e-filed.
