Hi,
My Alabama state return is being rejected due to an EF update. The error message says to check back after March 31, 2022 yet I am still getting the same rejection on 4/1/22. Please let me know how to proceed.
Thanks!

I have the exact same issue, same error reported . . . Alabama rejected EF, Turbotax e-mail states that the state rejected it, and to check back after 3-31-2022 . . . if state filing is broken and i'm forced to print and mail . . . how do I get my refund back from Turbotax that I paid for this service?
Same for me. Updates were available on 3/31 so I downloaded them and e-filed again, but my return was rejected again with the same message. I checked today, 4/1, but there are no new updates since the one I downloaded yesterday. I just e-filed for the third time.
Ditto, same problem as the original poster and the replies. Took the same steps, same result.
When will we hear from you intuit?
I had same issue. They basically said file one more time and if it rejects again, print and mail with tracking.

I am using the desktop product. I downloaded updates yesterday. The issue persists.
I have two W-2s. One has an amount in Box 16 for AL state wages and one has nothing, or no state wages in Box 16. For this second W-2, Turbotax is reporting the Federal Wages in column H on AL Schedule W-2, and the same amount is also reported as Additional Taxable Wages Other States in Column J. When Columns I and J are added together on the AL Form 40 pg 1 line 5, the total does not match the state wages from Box 16 on the W-2s from my Federal return so AL rejects my state return.
HELP!! Same thing still happening!! Using desktop version. My sister's return still being rejected.. Email says: "AL_IIT_3.0 - Your tax return is on hold pending an EF version update. Please come back after March 31, 2022."
I am still having this problem. It now says to come back on April 7, 2022 to refile. It currently will not even give me the option to refile electronically. It only says fix or file by mail.
Same problem here.
Using the desktop version (CD).
I spoke with TurboTax rep who assured me the fix would be in place Monday, April 4 instead of the 3/31 date indicated in TurboTax.
It is now 4/4/22 and so far it appears there is no update yet.
Another post indicates that it will be available 4/7/22.
What do we need to print to submit a paper copy and how do we get a refund for the e-file ?
Please follow the instructions here to manually update the software.
Once updated, please try to file once more. Please let us know if you encounter the same issue. @Thomas139
I got that EF code after my Alabama State return was rejected was told a update would be completed by March 31,2022. I did as you said but it still won't let me efile and has given me a new update date of April 7th, 2022. . I am using the online version.
Same issue, I did ours and a friends and both of our Alabama efile returns were rejected. I did as an expert said which was clean the cache and cookies off the browser but it keeps giving me the error to fix my return. This is the last year I am using Turbo Tax. For the last 2 yrs this year makes 3 that we have had issues with our taxes. I did our sons through the irs.gov site which gave tax software resources to use and everything went through fine. I only used TurboTax for the discount we got through my husbands job!!
I have already paid for the service when I filed Federal, but I can’t attempt to refile my AL state return without being prompted to pay for the service again. How do I proceed from there to see if the refile will process? Also the manual update seemed to be for Windows only- is there one for Mac? Thanks
This is the 2nd year that I have had a problem filing so I'm leaning in the same direction for next year.
For what it is worth I have a friend that is a retired accountant and he does returns for his family members.
He told me that he does the e-file for federal but always files paper return for Alabama.
I have another friend that is a tax specialist and he says that for Alabama returns he uses the MyAlabamaTaxes site and system for preparing and submitting the state return. He says it is very easy so for next year I may see if he can give me some pointers on how to do that.
