So, I did the March 11th update which seems to have addressed the pension/ira/annuity worksheet issue that was going on and now it tells me I can not efile the NYS return with also efiling the federal return. The issue is that I efiled the federal over a week ago and now I am stuck in limbo with NYS. Does anyone in the universe we live in know what the hell is going on this year with this company and when this will be fixed? We are just about a month into tax season and one of the biggest tax software companies has a product that DOES NOT work.

Try to efile anyway despite the error message you are receiving. You should be able to efile with no problems. If you have further issues, call tax support at 1-800-446-8848 to guide you through the process.
I tried for hours and spent well over an hour on the phone screen sharing the issue with tech support. They had no answers for what was causing this issue and no time frame for if and when it will be resolved. I am sorry but you can not charge people for a product that does not work after tax season has been open for a month.
The same story happened to me (Turbotax Deluxe Desktop).
Rule #1. NYS E-file fails because you have to choose to E-file Federal Return first.
Rule #2. You cannot choose to E-file Federal Return because ... IT WAS ALREADY E-FILED 2 WEEKS AGO.
Rule #3. If you think that you are smart and still can make this work, try the Rule #1 again.
But there is a ray of hope:
I heard that the will be the software UPDATE around March 19, 2021.
TurboTax worked fine for me for many years. Not sure what happened to them this year.
