NY State Will Not Allow Me to e-file due to Box 14 issue

I am getting the following:

Reason for e-file ineligibility:

Public employee retirement contributions must be categorized as either subject to tax or tax exempt. The only valid tax category entries for public employee retirement contributions on W-2 box 14 are either 1) NY IRC 414(h) Subject...etc.

The problem is I do NOT have public emp retirement contributions in this box just VPDI and NYPFL. That's it. This is ridiculous that I can not file.

Go back to your W2 entry in Federal Taxes, and make sure the drop down for Box 14 has the NY Nonoccupational Disability Fund tax selected.

I did and I get the exact same response. This is infuriating. Keeps telling public employee retirement contributions are subject to tax (in box 14). Again, NYPFL is not a retirement contribution. Same with VPDI.

Thanks I deleted all numbers in box 14 included 414H that was earned in NJ and NY seemed to flag it. Can file now.

I had 414H on a NJ w2.  Just delete all box 14 information. It is not required and informational only

NY State Will Not Allow Me to e-file due to Box 14 issue

Same thing here  .. I have an RSU ... and am guessing that the number in box 14 is the proceeds after withholdings ..  What do I choose as tax category?

I cant efile NY State now

@TaxedDonkey Since Box 14 is 'informational only' you could leave it blank on your W-2 entry to see if that resolves your New York Efile issue.

I found the issue .. its was not my W-2 but my wife's ..she is a NJ state employee and had a 414h in her w2 ....and even though hers was a NJ w2.

I had modified it and called it 414-NJ
