Do you have both MA and RI lines on your W2? If so, make sure that you go back through the Massachusetts return and check on the box to siphon out the RI line of income so that income is not doubled-up on the Massachusetts return. That is one possibility. However, if there is no double-up and all efforts to remove the diagnostic fail, then it might be necessary to mail-in the Massachusetts return.
On a side note, also make sure that RI SDI payments are entered in the W2 screen in the Box 14 section and marked accordingly, because MA will give a tax credit for those payments as well on the MA resident return.
Also - make sure you complete the non-resident RI return before you do the home state MA return.
