We just got married and live in different states. If we file jointly, am I required to file an AR state return even though I don't live or work in AR but my spouse does?

A non-resident of AR who has no AR-source income is not required to file an AR tax return. Your spouse can file in AR as married filing separately.
If he files MFS in AR, how would we file federally? MFJ or MFS?
And can we file MFJ if we reside in two separate states?
Thank you for answering!
You can file your federal return MFJ even if you file an MFS state return, and even if you live in different states.
