Had to file federal and state separately

Due to myself being active military and stationed in the same state my wife is a resident of (Kentucky), I'm a resident of Florida and was unable to e-file jointly unless I left out her state return. On the Turbotax page it said we'd have to file that separately, but I am unable to file a state return without a second federal return for her which was rejected. How can I file state alone? Thank you
