I am using TurboTax Premier. Married filing jointly, one partner works in Battle Creek where they have a city tax, the other partner does not work there. The program is saying we both owe taxes in Battle Creek, and I can't find any way around it. The W2 address for the second partner is not in Battle Creek. Please help!

It is a bit unclear by what you mean we both owe taxes in Battle Creek.
If you are filing a Joint return, you will both be listed on the City return and both be responsible for any tax due to that city.
If you mean that the program is taxing both wages, (wages earned in battle Creek as well as wages earned outside Battle Creek) that would need to be adjusted on the allocation screen for Battle Creek.
I had the same problem just now and found a solution that may help for anyone looking.
1. Click onto “forms" near the top of turbo tax
2. Scroll to your city tax you are trying to fix
3. A few lines below that you will see W2 worksheet
4. Click on each of the W2’s and scroll down to Part 1 Wages line 4c and check the box.
That will exclude those wages from the city you did not work in.
I’m not sure why TT still has a problem with this issue. No where does it ask you to exclude a W2 for a city taxes.
It had me owing well over $1000 to the city.
Not sure why the “Expert” thought this question was “Unclear” either.
