Error in CA tax return

TT is flagging an error on my CA return that I am unable to get rid of. It asks for W/H Id number to be entered on a withholding form. It gives me 4 options one of which is no entry. There is no entry on the form! What do I do?

If no state tax ID number is provided, you can use the federal Employer ID number instead. 

If this is from a W-2 form, the federal EIN will be in box b.

I do not think it answers my question, however.

The form in question is form 593 (Real Estate Withholding Statement).

The form is entered exactly as it was given to me. Next to the Business name is a small box with a number in it. Above the number are three boxes, FEIN, CA Corp no and CA SOS file number. Neither of these boxes are checked.

When I go through the review TT flags an error. TT gives me four options for correcting, one of which is no entry. I have actually tried all four options but do not get rid of the error.

Hence I am not able to e-file. I had just paid my $25 fee for e-filing CA. I want to e-file because the paper package to mail is huge, plus I have to send a rather large check and frankly do not trust the mail. I have to get this problem resolved!

@briandsmith  Whoever with held the real estate tax for you should have provided you with a federal ID number when they did so.  You should reach out to them for their ID number if there were no accompanying K-1s or partnership returns with the 593 that you received.

More importantly, entering the 593 is an annoying process and requires that you also enter it on the federal return in order for you to be able to use it.  Follow these steps when entering the form.

Thank you for this. For some reason I was able to make the error disappear, and I have filed.
