I live in NJ and work solely in NYC as an independent contractor (self employment). I earned all my income in NYC. And TurboTax is asking me: "Did I allocate my income to New York based on the volume of business transacted" Yes or no? and if the answer is Yes, the follow up question by TurboTax is to explain my allocation: Explain how I calculated my New York income based on the volume of business transacted
