I recently just won a lottery sweepstakes for 500, i did not work the previous year, or this year. I do not file taxes. No other source of income, do i still have to file taxes even though i had just received the winning? Its also a egift card. I reside in the State of New York.

If you have no other income than the $500 lottery winnings, then you are not required to file a Federal or NY state return, as the amount is below the threshold for filing a return.

If your income is below the limits indicated in this TurboTax Help article, you aren't required to file a tax return.
