You need to delete Alabama off of my return!

You can delete Alabama off your own return, if there are no entries that force the state to be added.

In the Online product, on the left, click State, then hit Continue on the new screen. The next screen should show the list of states that you have on your return. Click on Delete for Alabama.

Note that if there is some reference to Alabama on one of the forms that you entered (like AL for state withholding on your W-2) or in My Info (like if you lived in Alabama for even part of the year), then the state may come back.

If you acquire the Desktop product, then to delete a state, please click on File (upper left) then Delete State Return. This will give you a list of state returns to delete.
