Completed all states and went to print, Ohio is a part year, the first half. On schedule of credits line 36 is the non-resident credit, and says (include a copy). Turbo Tax fails to print form Ohio IT NRC. How do I get Turbo Tax to output this seemingly required page in the pages for filing?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
I encountered the same problem. It looks like you will have to print form IT NRC separately, then add it manually to the other forms.
Click on the Forms icon. On the list of forms, click on Form IT NRC p1. When the form shows on the display box, click the Print button at the bottom left of that box/screen.
If one has to manually add IT NRC it does not seem possible to file electronically. Am I correct? This seems to be a problem that TurboTax needs to fix.
Q. If one has to manually add IT NRC it does not seem possible to file electronically. Am I correct?
A. No. It only seems to be a printing problem. IT NRC is on the list of forms to be e-filed.
TT has investigated this and the conclusion is:
Unfortunately, the printed form Schedule of Credits has confusing information asking for a copy of the IT-NRC However, some years ago, on ST-74041, it was determined that NRC should not be sent in if only wages are being allocated (if Column B, line 1 = line 9, then the IT-NRC will not print).
same issue. pretty disappointing as i trusted turbotax to include necessary forms and they did not. this has created more work for me. for mac users, once you have the form displayed, go under "file" and then select "print active form".
The document is now required as of this year. Ohio will reject your return numbers without it. TurboTax, you need to fix this problem.
What's your source for "Ohio will reject your return numbers without it"?
I received a letter from the state of Ohio stating that my amount reported for the nonresident credit has been denied. When I called them they said it was because the IT NRC was not included. I shared with them that I had not included it last year and didn't have a problem. They said they got a new system this fall and it checks for this document and will deny the credit without the form. The previous system did not have this check.
I encountered similar notification from Ohio Taxation Department today (5/13/2024). The Ohio IT NRC form is required for processing, otherwise there is a tax burden for business pass through entities.
If you prepared your Ohio return within TurboTax, you will need to print out Form OH IT-NRC as it is not supported for electronic filing.
Please see this link for instructions on how to print after you have filed. Once you print the form out, send it to the Ohio Department of Taxation per the instructions on the notice you received.
I had the same issue. I could not efile so i printed off all the forms. it was not included with the print feature. I too got a nasty gram from Ohio saying we needed to fill out the IT NRC form and supply all W2 1099 and K1.
I have a bigger problem is i do not know how to do this since my wife has the PC that i did the taxes on and now i have to cold turkey fill out this form. O and OHIO is nice enough NOT to have help filling out the from too. REALLY SUCKS. Why i like my Utah taxes. you efile them by hand and just says on the 1099 put line 32 here. Granted it did not have a good way of doing filing jointly and non-resident.
Been using turbotax for years and moved to them after "the other software" did the same thing and cost me money.
I have the same issue. The only thing I have access to when logging back in is my return, where it says I need to attached a copy... Im not even sure what that means. I'm not seeing a Forms option on the website. Is there any other way to get Ohio their form they're requesting?
If you have not filed your return yet, proceed through the interview section for Ohio again and answer the questions as prompted. Your input to the questions will generate the Ohio Form IT-NRC and it will be included as part of your state filing copy.
To get to the state interview section, simply log back into TurboTax Online, select state taxes, and proceed through the interview questions for Ohio.
If you have already filed your taxes, you can try adding a state to get back to the interview screens to generate the form. Please see this link for steps on how to get back into the interview section.
Be careful to not make any changes when going through the interview questions to ensure your return matches what was filed. To ensure you have a copy of the return as originally filed, be sure to download/print a pdf copy to your computer before proceeding to generate the nonresident credit form.
