I entered the fact that the NYS teacher pension is a government pension in the federal section. In the NYS section, it deducts the full amount, $38,000 as exempt but it's also deducting the $20,000 for 'other pensions'. I have no other pensions or entered any other pensions. How do I fix this.
This is what TT is showing me which is incorrect.
Total federal taxable non-disability pension and IRA distributions $38,000
NY deduction for government pension $38,000
NY deduction for other pensions $20,000
Total taxable pensions and IRA -$20,000
distributions
HELP!! Thank you!

I neglected to say there is no annuity or IRA distribution for this tax return. TT will not allow me to delete the $20,000 from the tax return since the full $38,000 is tax exempt.
It seems to be a universal problem, that Intuit insists is our mistake. It's a problem in the software that doesn't seem to be able to be fixed. It's outrageous.
