Hi, I moved to New York from North Carolina at the end of May (move in June 1st, 2024) and I'm currently working on filing my state taxes. My W2 is showing my state wages for NY to be the full wage for the year despite only living in the state for 7 months. Is this correct for NY States taxes, even with only being a partial resident, or do I need to account for the wages only while I have been a resident of NY?

@MandyLorien can you explain more about the source of your wages? Were you a remote worker for the same company? Or did you live and work in the same state simultaneously (transferred sites)?
New York has a rule for part-year residents that the New York income in Box 16 of the W-2 must match the total income in Box 1. It is then up to the employee to allocate the correct NY-taxable income amount to their NY tax return. See page 3 of this NY tax bulletin:
