I file Resident in IN and had part year income in OH - why is my total income taxable in OH ?

For nonresidents, Ohio computes tax based on your total income.
The tax is then multiplied by a percentage, based on your non-Ohio income as compared to your Ohio adjusted gross income.
Please see the Instructions for Individual Income Tax (IT 1040) for more information.
IN and OH have tax reciprocity for W-2 wages or salary.
If your income from OH consisted entirely of W-2 wages or salary, it would be taxable only by your home state of IN.
You would file a non-resident OH return only if you had OH-sourced income other than W-2 wages or salary, or if your employer mistakenly withheld OH taxes. In the latter case, you'd file in OH only to obtain a refund of the incorrectly withheld taxes. On that return you'd allocate zero income to OH.
