Hello,
My daughter lives and works in Florida. Her company has offices all over the U.S. Her boss and a handful of her team-mates are based out of the NJ office so she has flown up there to work for a few days here and there throughout the year. Her company flies her all over the U.S. to present at conferences 3-4 days at a time once a month. The HR department reached out to her recently to confirm the number of days she was in NJ. Is she required to pay NJ state taxes? Is she required to pay state taxes where she presents at conferences? No state taxes have been withheld from her pay at all.
Thank you.
Thanks!

Some states do require that you pay taxes for the days you work in those states which is why the employer was confirming their numbers ... but only if she is required to file a state return according to the NJ rules.
Here are the 2018 NJ filing thresholds for non-residents of NJ who have NJ-source income (income from work actually performed in NJ is NJ-source income):
Single: gross income from everywhere for the entire year exceeding $10,000
Married: gross income from everywhere for the entire year exceeding $20,000

@Critter ..... the response below suggests that if she is not required to pay in NJ, she is not required to pay anywhere else. but even if she is not required to pay tax on NJ income, she may still have to pay based on the laws in each state.
