I'm filing my NJ State Tax return and I'm up to the duplicate wage section which states, "Check 'Remove These Wages' for each state wage line that is a duplicate. Typically, New Jersey wages should be higher than federal wages because New Jersey does not allow the same federal deductions."
I am a non-resident of NJ as I live in NY. I have state returns for NY, NJ & CT. All 3 states (NY, NY & CT) are listed within this portion of the return, and I have an option to remove the wages for any of the states. The State Wage amount (box 16) for NY is equal to my federal wages on my W-2 (which is greater than my state wage amount for NJ).
Do I remove the wages listed for CT & NY and only leave NJ??
I think the "duplicate" wage wording is throwing me off...
