NJ does not allow prepaid property taxes to be used. How can I manually adjust the figure on the NJ 1040 using Premier on my PC, not online Turbo Tax

New Jersey does not allow the prepayment of 2018 property taxes to be deducted from my NJ 1040.  So the amount copied from the federal 1040 for the NJ 1040 is too high, how to manually adjust this ?

You can make the adjustment to the correct amount deductible in NJ within the state return on the screen We Need to Know About Your Property Taxes. See the screenshot below.

Yes. Follow these steps:

  1. Enter the full amount in the federal section.
  2. Open your NJ return
  3. Continue through
  4. Stop when you reach We Need to Know about Your Property Taxes
  5. How much was paid for 2025? Enter the amount for 2025
  6. The program will handle the rest

Is this information still correct for TY 2025?  So I have to manually adjust the property tax amount in my NJ return - trying to figure out how to do that.  Thanks.
