Hello,
I am unclear as to what adjustments need to be reported here on the NJ tax return. I moved to NJ from Illinois this year. I have two W-2's: one from my employer in Illinois and one from my employer in New Jersey. However, from when I became a New Jersey resident, I only received income from my second employer, so I assume only the second W-2 is relevant.
On this W-2, the box 1 amount does not equal the box 16 amount, I assume because the first is for federal tax reporting and the second for state tax reporting. If I reported the box 16 amount in my NJ return, is there any other adjustment that needs to be made? Do I need to take into account any of the other boxes in my W-2? My employer also automatically deducts some of my income and places that in a retirement plan. Is this relevant to these adjustments?

There are no other manual adjustments to make on your W-2 form. Make sure that the other W-2 income (IL employer) is not taxed by NJ.
401(k) contributions are excludable for NJ income tax. So it is not relevant to these adjustments. IRA contributions are not deductible for NJ income tax. If you did not make any deductible IRA contributions, no adjustments are necessary.

Thanks for the quick response!
