NC efile Charge

Why would turbo tax attempt to efile my NC state return and charge me when the efile forms are not available and cannot efile my return.

NC efile Charge

@robetax - That is a consideration, however with processing there is a flow.  When you selected to e-file your return, TurboTax had no clue whether your return would have been successfully processed because some have actually processed.  You have to pay at a certain point in the preparation process.  When the North Carolina Department of Revenue has finalized the electronic forms needed to file your return, you will now only have to Log back into your account to e-file.

This has been inconvenient, to say the least, but NC and TurboTax are working to get this issue resolved as soon as possible.  And NC is not the only state still finalizing forms.  As a matter of fact, the IRS is a little behind also, in finalizing some forms.

NC efile Charge

The IRS started this tax season pretty far behind.  That kind of delay flows down to the states.  So the IRS finalizes their forms and then the states finalize their forms.  And then the TurboTax programmers get the forms and have to integrate them into the TurboTax program.  Then there is testing to make sure that the newly added forms work with the program properly.  Then they are rolled out to the public.  As inconvenient as the waiting is it will still get your tax return processed faster than paper filing it.

Here is the timeline for the release of state forms on TurboTax.

NC efile Charge

I am saying turbo tax should have informed me that the form was was not available before I efiled.  Rather, I spent an hour chasing the answer down after I efiled.  Turbo tax even sent me an email telling me the form was ready.  The email could have included that the form was ready for paper filers and not efilers.
