My tax return is asking me to enter "Tpstate" I do not know what that means?

It probably wants you to indicate the Taxpayer's state. It's hard to say much more without any context.

Tpstate stands for taxpayer state. Taxpayer is generally the first person listed on the tax return if there are two people shown.
