My NJ 401K roll over to IRA shows up a second time as my wife's rolloverr.

I have seen other people having the same issue dating back 3 years. If it is a program problem why isn't it corrected?

I rolled a 401K to a traditional IRA on my Federal return. When I do NJ taxes it comes up for me, and then appears a second time as though it were my wife's. Why can't the program identify the correct person?

Please review your form 1099-R in the Federal section.

When entering each form 1099-R, there is a page titled Who does this 1099-R belongs to?. Please make sure that you click on the first name of the spouse the 1099-R belongs to.

Thank you for your reply. It was my rollover, and I checked the correct box on the Federal Income box question stating it was my rollover

Now when I get to the New Jersey review the same question is asked "was any of this rollover to a simple IRA". I answer no, and hit continue, and the question is repeated under my wife's first name with the same exact rollover figure. There was no rollover for my wife, and I entered mine correctly.

I have seen other people with the same problem, and if this  is a program error I would hope that it will be explained?

I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:

TurboTax Online:
1. Sign into your online account.
2. Locate the Tax Tools on the left-hand side of the screen.
3. A drop-down will appear. Select Tools
4. On the pop-up screen, click on “Share my file with agent.”
5. This will generate a message that a diagnostic file gets
sanitized and transmitted to us.
6. Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response.

TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:
1. Open your return.
2. Click the Online tab in the black bar across the top of TurboTax and select “Send Tax File to Agent”
3. This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created. Click on OK and the tax file will be

Thank you for sharing your token number.  It does take some time to go through the process of reviewing your token and sending the information to the next group for further review.  The situation you described was submitted to the development team for consideration.

Even though the information on the screen while working through your NJ return asks separately whether both you and your spouse had a rollover to a SIMPLE IRA, as long as you answer 'No' on both of those screens, there is nothing that will change within your NJ return.
