Do you even have to file taxes in more than one state? Do you know if you’re a resident, nonresident, or part-year resident? What if you’re in a state temporarily, such as a military move? So many questions - and TurboTax has the answers!
Let’s start with the fact that most states offer a credit for taxes paid to the other state - on the same income. Whew! Some states have a “reciprocal agreement". This simply means if you live and work in two different states who have those agreements, you don’t have to file in both states. And even better, there are several states that don’t even have individual income taxes! Woohoo!
