When did you move to TX?
Where did you move from?
When you worked for the company based in Illinois, where did you physically perform that work.
Does the W-2 that has IL for state, have amounts in boxes 16 and 17? Or just IL in box 15?
Moved to TX in early June of 2021. Moved from OH where I worked with another compnay & have W2 for them. Did the work for IL company in TX. Planned temporary as moved to TX to start medical school. Values in 16 & 17 with 17 being State Income.
@petersu12 Attending school in TX, even medical school, makes you temporarily away for tax purposes. You are a full year Ohio resident and must pay OH tax on all your income. You file a resident OH return.
TX does not have an income tax.
Since you did not physically work in IL, You only file an IL return if there was withholding in box 17. Then you file a non-resident return to get a refund.
