The 302 override isn't working for me this year. Glad I double checked everything. It seems to do the math wrong and not act as a credit. Instead it makes me pay whatever I type in. Anyone else have luck with the credit this year?
Nevermind. It works as an override on IT-201-ATT, but does the wrong thing if you try to put it onto the credit worksheet
After seeing problems last year and before that, I just went straight to paper filing for NY this year. Mailed it in about 10 days ago, although as of yesterday still not shown as filed on my account on the NY Tax website. Last year, also with paper filing, they had overlooked/ignored my IT-242 that was also shown under code 302 on the IT-201-ATT, but a call last fall to one of those "wizards behind the screen" finally got it cleared up with my conservation easement credit recognized as OK. So, still open to see how it goes for the 2022 return. I retained the phone number of that NY Tax problem resolution group just in case.
For my NY paper filing I had filled out most other things on TurboTax, but did not print any of their forms, instead used their draft forms as a base, but went to the internet to get fillable forms from NYS. I did not want to use any of those from TurboTax in case the bar codes or whatever on those might mess things up, as they were different from what I was seeing on the internet forms that NYS provided.
Why does TurboTax NOT support NYS form IT-242? I need the form to e-file and I expect Intuit to do its job completely. What am I to do with an incomplete product? Please advise.
thank you
Tony
Terrible, right? This long thread has a few options. The easiest seems to be to override IT-201-ATT using code 302 for the credit. This gives you correct and complete taxes which you can then print out. Then you include a paper printout of a manually filled out IT-242 and then paper file.
My NYS refund arrived today, after paper filing in late March. Not too bad compared to last year when it took until November to get the refund, but still probably later than if TurboTax and NYS still permitted e-filing of returns with the IT-242 Conservation Easement Credit form.
I just got notice that my refund will be paid next week as filed, so NY DTF didn't overlook my IT-242.
However TurboTax never asked me about direct deposit - I can't find it in Interview, but it's obvious on the NY Info Worksheet - so I guess I'll get a physical check...
Update: the NY direct deposit stuff covered in Filing, which I never did as I printed the return before doing that.
