I was surprised when TurboTax prepared a Maryland 502UP for an underpayment of tax for my return. Maryland's comptroller, in Feb. of 2022, extended the deadline for 1st and 2nd quarter estimated taxes to July 15, 2022 for Maryland individual taxpayers:

My est. payments for those 2 quarters were both made in July 2022 before the new deadline.
I spent a good 45 minutes on the phone with TurboTax support staff who insisted that the extension was for tax year 2021. They had me questioning myself. I contacted the Maryland tax office and was assured that my payments were considered on-time and the penalty of $80 on the 502UP was not in order.
At the moment, the only way I can eliminate the 502UP is to falsify the estimated tax payment dates for those 2 quarters, which is very distasteful to me and illegal. I'm an honest person. If anyone out there has a fix for this, please respond. I'd like to submit these returns early.
