Living in Texas, but work in colorado

In 2024 til December 9th, I worked a company in Texas and moved to Colorado for another job opportunity. Family is still living in Texas and my address is still in Texas until kid’s school ends, then I am planning moving in Colorado in June, 2025. I am currently living in Colorado by renting a room, and still holds Texas license.

I know I need to file a tax return with TX. What about CO? Anyone has same situation with me please, give me a guidance.

Texas does not have a state income tax requirement, so no filing a Texas return.

If you moved to Colorado in December, you will file a Part-Year resident return for the state of Colorado. You will claim only the income you made while living/working in that state. It does not matter that you only rented a room, or that you hold a Texas license, you are still considered a Part-Year resident of Colorado.
