Lived and Worked in Texas but paid in NC. Do I need to pay NC taxes

Hi,

I lived and worked in Texas and was a resident of Texas until May 18 and moved to NC on May 18.

On May 22 (after I moved to NC) I received wages for the period from May 1 to May 15 (during which I lived and worked in Texas), the company deducted NC taxes for that pay period.

My understanding is that if I lived and worked in Texas then it is Texas income not NC income even though it was paid after I moved to NC so I should not be paying NC taxes. Is my understanding correct.

Would appreciate your help please - Thanks.

Best

You are correct.  If you were still a resident of Texas, and the income was earned from work done in Texas, it is not subject to NC taxation.
