If you do not have NYC flexible benefits allocable to NYS, then you should enter $0 on the screen below.

I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:

TurboTax Online:

  1. Sign into your online account.
  2. Locate the Tax Tools on the left-hand side of the screen.
  3. A drop-down will appear. Select Tools
  4. On the pop-up screen, click on “Share my file with agent.”
  5. This will generate a message that a diagnostic file gets sanitized and transmitted to us.
  6. Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response.

TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:

  1. Open your return.
  2. Click the Online tab in the black bar across the top of TurboTax and select “Send Tax File to Agent” *
  3. This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created.  Click on OK and the tax file will be sanitized and transmitted to us.
  4. Please provide the Token Number (including the dash) that was generated in the response.

*(If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, “Send Tax File to Agent”)

Thanks, but how do I know if I have NYC flexible benefits allocable to NYS? IRC 125 does not appear on my W2. So does that mean I should still assume $0? Thanks!

To know for sure if you have a NYC Flexible benefit, you will need to contact your employer. Sometimes NY paid family leave appears in Box 14 , which is not Code A-101, but the program seems to categorize it as an IRC 125.

See this response from a previous thread by @AbrahamT

If your W-2 Box 14 is empty or you did not participate in the New York City flexible benefits program, IRC 125, to clear this error, remove the 0's and leave empty. Then click continue. (Make sure you remove both 0's)

See image below for reference. This should clear the error

This still does not clear the error message and it prevents e-filing of the New York State return. I've tried deleting, making it 0, putting in a 1. No change.  My tax return last year has no entry in the designated line so something is wrong with this year's program.

Please try deleting NY Form IT-225.

To delete, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Open or continue your return.
  2. On Tax Home, select Start, Continue, or Pick up where you left off to enter your return.
  3. In the left menu, select Tax Tools and then Tools.
  4. In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
  5. Select Delete next to the form in the list and follow the instructions.

Thank you. That cleared the error and allowed me to proceed. I'll look through the return to be sure it's as expected but it appears that this was the solution. I appreciate your help.
