Forgive me if I posted this in the wrong spot, but I need some advice on a situation I just found out about.
I lived in Iowa from 2009 to 2014, and then moved back to Texas.
I just found out that Iowa is trying to charge me income tax for the last 5 years that I live and work in Texas, and they sent me a notice of intent to Levy.
Anyone have some ideas on how I can fight this?
Just to be clear I did not live or work in Iowa nor am I an Iowa resident for The last 5 years.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
there should be a phone number on the notice. call and explain your situation and ask what they need to satisfy them you did not have a tax liability in the state for those years.
if you need further help post back in same thread.
Did you possibly leave your Driver's License or Voter's registration to the old Iowa address ? Or do you still own property in Iowa that still may have a homestead exemption on it ? Or rent out the home ?
It took me about six months to sell the house, but everything else I switched over as fast as I possibly could.
