If I live in Whitehall PA and work in Philadelphia PA, which local tax I have to pay, where I live in Whitehall or where I work in Philadelphia as a self employer (1099).


The earned income tax is to be paid by all working Whitehall Township residents at a rate of 1.50% on total gross wages and non-residents at a rate of 1.0%. A final return must be filed, whether or not there is any tax due for the year, by April 15th.

The Earnings Tax is a tax on salaries, wages, commissions, and other compensation paid to a person who works or lives in Philadelphia.  You must pay the Earnings Tax if you are a non-resident who works in Philadelphia.  If you are self-employed, you pay the following taxes instead of the Earnings Tax:
