If you live in Wisconsin and work in IL, then you would only need to pay taxes to WI as these 2 states have reciprocal agreements, meaning you only pay taxes to the state you live in, not the state you work in.
If you had taxes withheld for IL, then you would need to fill out a return for both states so you could get a refund of the taxes paid to IL. In this situation, you would need to then contact your employer so they would withhold taxes for WI instead of IL.
If your employer only withheld taxes for WI, then you would only need to file a WI return.
