Although TurboTax will not suggest a state to file based on your residency, you may still file a non-resident state tax return.
For Desktop users, select the "State Taxes" tab on top and then select "Choose Another State".
For Online users, go to the TAX HOME screen (Top left on the side-bar)
scroll down and select "State Taxes" on the screen
Continue to select the option to "Choose State"
Select the state (in your case Georgia) from the drop-down list
You may need to answer "Yes, you made money there but did not earn income in Georgia" to get the program to continue and file a non-resident return, but allocate NO income for that state. The withholding should carry through to the state return, so you should get that state tax refunded.
Note:
If you get a Georgia State refund, you will get a 1099-G next year reporting the refund. If you are taking the Standard Deduction on your 2024 Federal return, you will not need to report that 1099-G on your 2025 Federal return as income.
When you take the Standard Deduction on your Federal return, you are not claiming state taxes paid. When you don't claim state taxes paid in one year, you needn't claim state taxes refunded the next year.
