Couple things may be causing this issue.

First, go to Personal Information tab and under "Your Personal Info Summary" at the bottom, make sure it shows. "Other State income" as none. If CA is listed there, EDIT that section and remove it.

Next look at W-2 and make sure CA is not listed in Boxes 15, 16 and 17.  If it is there, your employer made a mistake.

Go to Federal Tax (may be Personal for self-employed) tab

Then to Wages and Income (may be Personal Income)

Then to W-2 area

and EDIT that W-2 to see what was entered in Boxes 15, 16 and 17.

If you did have CA taxes withheld, you would have to file a return for CA to get the money back.  You would probably need to get a letter from your employer that they took taxes out incorrectly.

If no CA taxes were withheld, make sure 15-17 are correct, as you do not need to file a CA return.

The address of the employer does not matter (so it is OK it lists CA).

Post a comment if this does not fix it.  Thanks
