I live in Oregon, but do not work in Oregon. How do I get the State tax ID number?

How can I get the Oregon State Tax ID number if I did not get a W2 from an Oregon Employer but have to file in Oregon?

I'm not certain, but for me (and my wife) who are retired and no longer receive W-2s, it has been our SS numbers.
You may have to call the State's office (who have nice people to answer these).
