Georgia state tax credit from GaSSO

Can I deduct the GaSSO education credit donation from itemized deduction on federal and take the tax credit of the donated amount on Georgia state taxes

You can claim the credit on your Georgia return, or claim a charitable contribution on your federal return, but not both.

I worked with someone from Turbotax and ultimately we could either take the state credit or itemize on schedule A. The turbotax program would not let both occur. We spent 2 hours on a live call.
