Filing NY state tax online after filing federal on desktop
Hi, I've filed my federal and current state taxes with Turbo Deluxe desktop version. However, I also need to file NY state tax since I was a part-year resident - I qualify for free e-file but it looks like I need to create a new online account. That won't work for me since I've already filed my federal return with the desktop version. Is there a way for me to file NY state tax for free with either the desktop or online version? Thank you!

If you qualify for the Free Version of TurboTax, you can use the online version of TurboTax. You will still need to create the Federal return to have the information flow from the Federal to the State return correctly.
Then you can just efile the state return without the Federal return.

@DianeC958 I don't think you can efile state from the online version unless Federal was first efiled from the same online account and was Accepted. Your Online Account won't know Federal was Accepted from the Desktop program.
You could print and mail state for free from Online Free Edition.
You can not efile state if you are mailing federal or before efiling federal. See,
