estimated taxes for first time in Mississippi

Hello. I have to file estimated taxes for my husband for the first time in the state of Mississippi. He is working in Texas and now New Mexico. I called in to the tax department in Mississippi and she literally told me that if I pay ''5%, I should be well covered come tax season." That answer made me extremely nervous. Can anyone talk to me about Mississippi state tax rate if you heard anything separate? He started this situation with the different states in May. I've only made two payments so far to the state of Mississippi. I just am nervous about short-changing ourselves. Thanks for any input.
